Biography
Dr. Rob Curtis (b. 1981)
Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Rob Curtis holds an undergraduate degree in piano performer and master’s and doctoral degrees in choral conducting from the University of Alberta. He is the Artistic Director and Conductor of Edmonton’s i Coristi Chamber Choir, and has previously conducted the University of Alberta Concert Choir, Sine Nomine, and others. Rob has performed across Canada and abroad as a professional choral singer, and has extensive experience as a church musician and collaborative pianist.
Rob is known for his eclectic, imaginative programming and his engaging and expressive conducting. With the premiere of his Mass at Journey’s End in 2024, he added composition to his artistic practice. Singers and audiences alike have praised his innovative writing, accessible but modern harmonic writing, and evocative text setting.
Outside of his musical pursuits, Rob is also a freelance writer, specializing in legal writing and strategic planning.
